"To be able to step from your cabana directly onto the sand and be 10 paces from the warm ocean is extraordinary. The care of the staff and the whole laid back environment is something you need to understand (or learn) about yourself. It is isolated, beautiful, peaceful and gives you time to relax in a busy life. One week recommended to get it. If you need it the internet is adequate. Bring books to satiate your mind. No roads, no challenges, only what you can make of it yourself. Nowhere to go. Couple of bars and restaurants to fill in your evenings. Beach bbq is awesome 400m away along the beach. If you seek peace this is your place."

"Not a don’t like. Just an obvious recommendation. Don’t eat anything that you would eat in Europe. Forget bacon and eggs (seems obvious). Go straight to the Cambodian menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When in Cambodia go local. Duh!"

"The Sol Beach Resort is a very cute resort in sync with the natural surroundings. It is built almost entirely in wood and slightly inset, so it blends into the trees which are spread all over the property. There were several thoughtful touches - hand sprays at the entry to every cottage to wash off the sand from your feet, hammocks and deck beds, etc. They have a plentiful supply of clean water from their own deep well. And they had kayaks and paddle boards available for us to use. The staff were very warm, friendly and hospitable with always a smile on their faces. It was great to interact with Mr Wong, Sokhom, Kanha and Lina who took personalised care of us. Nha at the spa was very deft and good with the massage with her firm hands."

"We took a 2nd row Tree Villa which said it is for 4 people. That may be so if you are a family with little children. With two grown up daughters it was a bit cramped for us. Plus they had barely any cupboard space to unpack our clothes, so we had to live out of our suitcases. But the biggest issue was a large glass window between the bathroom and room. While it had a dark tint, you could still see through it. They should have provided a roller blind for privacy."

"Loved the location, on the beach is the only way that you can describe any of these rooms. we were in the third row - but the set up meant we could see the sea. Food was lovely (slightly surprised that the bread was sweet - ended up have a local noodle and egg dish that became my favourite go to breakfast. It was a short walk along the beach to get to a food and drink centre. Stay an extra day because we loved it so much"

"Its a beautiful location, the kindness of the staff and the beach spot under the trees were amazing. They have some of the best choice of currys and asian food… their breakfast was also very good."

"We liked everything, but the house where we stayed was a bit run down. It has a lot of potential if they removed some old furniture that has been damaged by the corrosion, the back bathroom has a sewage smell so they need to deal with that, and maybe add some mosquito nets… but the price was fair, the property was clean and the materials used in the construction are nice."

"Bungalows really charming - a great mix between rustic charm and modern practicality. Good bathroom! Great beachfront - really good loungers and lots of tree shade to put them in. Probably the nicest bit of beach (doesn’t vanish at high tide). Loved the up-and-down nature of the layout, gave really good privacy. Short stroll to the “busy” bit of the beach (nowhere is actually busy). Decent breakfast."

"Nothing to do with the hotel but Saracen Bay is very shallow for a long way and not always the cleanest due to the enclosed nature of the bay. If you’re not a big swimmer this won’t be an issue!"
